Mill Strand Integrated School was established in 1987, by the sea in Portrush, Northern Ireland. It was started by a small number of families with a vision of educating all children, from different communities, together at a time of division and conflict in Northern Ireland. The school was named after the nearby beach. The beach symbolised a fresh start as it is renewed and refreshed every day by the sea.
30 years on Mill Strand is now an ambassador eco - school. They have adopted the local beach and regularly litter pick as part of outdoor classroom learning to protect their marine environment. In 2017, with the support of Sea Changers, Mill Strand a 2minutebeachclean station on Portrush's West strand in conjunction with the local beach cafe, Babushka. The board has been extremely well received & supported by the local community. IN 2018 Sea-Changers supported a second community beach clean station on Portrush's other beautiful beach, the East strand with guardianship from the Arcadia beach café.
