We are excited to announce our 2024/25 Innovation Fund is now open for applications and will remain open until 28th of February 2025. The fund’s focus is on supporting new and experimental solutions to marine conservation challenges. The Innovation Fund is supported by ARC Marine Ltd and the William Grant Foundation with a further donation from a family trust. The absolute maximum grant size will be £10,000.
The William Grant Foundation is specifically supporting innovation projects based in Scotland. The Foundation is a non-profit association established to support charitable causes in Scotland. Its work is funded by William Grant and Sons Ltd.
In addition to providing financial support for the Innovation Fund, ARC Marine Ltd. will be offering in-kind support to some applicants - whether that be in terms of science or engineering expertise, or enabling access to their vessels or 3D printers or software. Their business has very much been built on innovation, supporting their mission to build biodiversity and to replenish reefs on a scale never before imagined. They do this by providing environmentally sound, durable solutions for traditional marine industries.
Helen Webb, Co-Founder of Sea-Changers said: “We are thrilled to be running the Innovation Fund for a third time. We know there are a wide range of individuals and organisations developing innovative solutions to the marine crisis, but they may need help putting their ideas into action. With the support of our funding partners we are now in a fantastic position to implement some real innovation in this area. We are all so excited to see what applicants come up with.”
Full details on how to apply and the funding criteria can be found here.
The Innovation Fund applications will be judged against the following criteria:

In 2022 the Innovation Fund award was distributed to eight very varied projects. You can find out more about the previous recipients here.
